Introducing Higher Ed Higher Hopes
I originally named this newsletter Modern Academic as a placeholder. My priority was to commit to writing consistently before settling on a more meaningful title.
At first, I envisioned the newsletter focusing on my journey as a first-generation student turned faculty member. However, I found my writing expanding beyond that angle. Thus, I think Higher Ed Higher Hopes better reflects my vision. I want to write mostly for faculty and other professionals working in higher education, offering a solutions-focused approach to the challenges academia faces.
That said, I don’t want the name to suggest naïve optimism or imply that I have all the answers. I’m here to explore questions, not just propose solutions, and I’m excited to engage with readers and other writers in that conversation.
